THE BRAND

Naseem AlAndalos is a Bahrain-based brand that produced a new breed of luxurious caftans and evening gowns that are influenced by the Moroccan and Arabian heritage. The designers embraced traditional handwork and applied it on modern and sophisticated silhouettes. Their unique approach in designing and attention to details has gained the brand a respected name in the Arab fashion industry.

THE DESIGNERS

Nabila AlAissaoui and Haya Khalifa are the mother and daughter design duo behind Naseem AlAndalos. Nabila, who’s originally Moroccan, is a self-taught designer. After living in the Gulf for years she was inspired to form a fusion of Moroccan and Khaleeji caftans at a time when Moroccan wear wasn’t popular in the Gulf region. Armed by a background in fashion and knowledge in garment construction, Nabila started small and introduced her innovative pieces to her friends and family who encouraged her to pursue a career in fashion.

Haya grew up in a very creative environment where pursuing what she felt passionate about was encouraged. As she grew older she experimented in various fields of art and design until she decided to study Architecture. During her time in university, Naseem AlAndalos came to life and she grew attached to work and felt that she can express herself better in fashion. With her newfound passion Haya changed her career path and studied Fashion Design at the Royal University for Women.She currently takes the role of Creative Director of Naseem AlAndalos while her mother is in charge of Design. The duo come from different generations where Nabila prefers a more romantic and classic approach to designing while Haya infuses her Architectural background in her designs. This combination creates a unique look and adds to the brand’s aesthetic.

THE HISTORY

The brand’s official debut collection was in 2010 followed by the introduction of the Haute Couture line which debuted in Abu Dhabi in 2012. By 2013 Naseem AlAndalos grew to be the top-leading brand specialized in Moroccan Couture; from having editorial shoots in Atlantis the Palm and the One & Only Royal Mirage in Dubai to showing alongside international Arab designers like Abed Mahfouz, Fouad Sarkis and Rami Kadi. Arab celebrities like Hind Boumchamar, Dunia Batma, Angham, Lojain Omran, and Balqees Fathi favored the brand’s unique and lavish designs and were seen dressed in signature pieces in several occasions.

The brand’s first show outside of the Middle East was during an exclusive fashion show in London’s most prestigious store, Harrods, in 2013. This was followed by a private charity show in Bvlgari Hotel in London in the beginning of 2014. By the end of 2014, the designers went on to be the first Arab designers to walk the runway in a one of a kind fashion show in the iconic Eiffel Tower in the capital of fashion, Paris. The brand gained its credibility and much deserved appreciation internationally, and in a relatively short amount of time Naseem AlAndalos proved to be a brand that can compete in the international fashion industry.

In 2017, the designers went back to Paris and held their first couture show during Paris Fashion Week; the show took place at the renowned Four Seasons George V hotel. An editorial shoot in the historical Chateau d’Amboise followed up the show. In 2019, the label’s designers Haya Khalifa and Nabila AlAissaoui received the award for “Best Arab Designer” at the Arab Sat Festival, which took place in Cairo, Egypt.

Marked as its first venture in Morocco, Naseem AlAndalos launched its Spring 2020 couture collection through a fashion show which was held at the Royal Mansour Hotel in Marrakech, organized by Oriental Fashion Show in collaboration with “Dar Bouidar”, a children’s village in Marrakech that adopts and cares for abandoned children in Morocco. A unique photoshoot took place in this iconic hotel that embodies true Moroccan luxury and craftsmanship.

THE CRAFTSMANSHIP

The designers aim for perfection in the making of each gown in their atelier. They pay attention to the finest details and their haute couture craftsmanship is evident in their exquisite finishing, delicate hand-sewn embroidery, handmade belts and trims. The duo’s understanding of luxurious fabrics and focus on creating feminine silhouettes is what makes them a design force to be reckoned with and Naseem AlAndalos remains the first destination for any fashionable woman seeking sophistication, elegance and excellence.
